Jack Yarger made Lifetime Member

At the March 17th meeting of the TriCity ARA, Jack Yarger was recognized for founding the amateur radio club that supports emergency communications in the Avondale, Goodyear, and Litchfield Park area. Jack was also awarded Lifetime Membership Status. For pictures of the event, go here.

Ham Bill Passes the House, now in the Senate.

House Bill 2721 (find it here) has passed the House, and is now progressing through the Senate. Please write to your State Senator and request that they support this bill. If we are to provide adequate emergency communications, we must be allowed to erect and operate proper antennas. A sample letter can be downloaded here. W7GDY/R Is Offline Again.

The City of Goodyear repeater experienced a failure sometime during the week of March 3. It was reported to be loosing power, and eventually went off-line completely. It was repaired and was placed back in service on April 9th. Shortly after its restart, it was noticed that the power output appeared to be too lowm and also seemed to be fluctuating. A visit showed that at very high SWR was present, and that 5 to 7 watts were being reflected back. Until the problem can be resolved, the repeater will remain off-line.
